About the Coast Guard

The Coast Guard protects U.S. waters — maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and port security. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security.

Jobs you could qualify for

Your ASVAB subtest scores (line scores) determine which jobs are open to you. Coast Guard fields include:

Maritime law enforcementSearch & rescueMachinery & engineeringOperations specialistAviation survival

Specific job eligibility depends on line scores, medical screening, and sometimes a clearance. The app’s MOS matching estimates which you qualify for from your practice scores.

Fitness & body composition

Coast Guardhas its own physical fitness test, plus a body-composition standard. Since 2026 that’s a waist-to-height ratio (waist at the navel ÷ height) — 0.55 for most branches, 0.52 for the Marine Corps — which replaced the old height/weight tables and body-fat tape test. Rather than quote numbers that change, the app lets you check exactly where you stand against current standards.
